The Aslan Alliance NGO was born out of the desire to enjoy the diversity of cultures in the Kyrgyz Republic of Central Asia. Registered as a cultural NGO in September, 1999, in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, the purpose of the Aslan Alliance charter is primarily to develop mutual understanding among the peoples of Kyrgyzstan and with visitors from outside.

Under our charter, Aslan Alliance Associates explore the rich cultural heritage of the peoples who live within the national boundaries of Kyrgyzstan (the land of the Kyrgyz people). Associates strive to understand the formation of a national identity in a multi-cultural society, foster the role of free, peaceful religious diversity, and promote good citizenship within a "culture of trust" among all peoples of Kyrgyzstan. Much of the impetus for furthering this area of research came from the UNESCO International Forum “Culture and Religion in Central Asia” held in Kyrgyzstan in September, 1999.

Aslan Alliance research examines Central Asia’s ethnic plurality with sensitivity to deep cultural topography. Aslan Alliance seeks to bridge cultural differences with mutual understanding and the practice of cross-cultural communication. Within the rubric of "crossing cultures," Aslan Alliance Associates have developed projects with links inside and outside the country. Aslan Alliance projects involve different areas of cultural development and artistic expression such as ethnomusicology, literature, drama, and art. Cultural orientations and consultations for businessmen, visitors and local leaders apply research results to practical situations.

Believing that religion plays an important role in the development of culture through the foundation of social ethical norms, traditional arts, and spiritual inspiration, the Aslan Alliance NGO seeks to partner with religious organizations of all faiths in order to address social problems such as poverty, disease, vice, and crime. It is hoped that these efforts towards cultural understanding, mutual respect, and social cooperation will help to develop a peaceful society in the Kyrgyz Republic. In partnership with “allies” in the private and public sphere, Aslan Alliance Associates are committed to building a better future for the generations to come – working together with all the peoples of Kyrgyzstan.
